In the centres of the vases, on one side, garden scenes of father and mother teaching children the art of growing and making bouquets of roses. On the other side, bouquets of roses on a white background. Top of the vases on a celestial blue background. Excellent condition. No marks.

Size: H 51 cm – base diameter 14 cm – maximum length of vase body 28 cm

Very much in keeping with the designs of the de Haviland factory in the mid-19th century. A similar pair was presented at the Crystal Palace in New York by Haviland Brothers and Company in 1853 at the “World’s fair”, the first international fair organized in the United States. They encountered great success with it and they were rewarded with a first prize for the quality of their decorated porcelain. Haviland’s production was almost exclusively made for the American market.
