A porcelain plaque “Retour des champs”

Oval shaped porcelain plaque with the classical scene “Retour des champs” (back from the fields) by the French painter William Bouguereau (La Rochelle 1825 – La Rochelle 1905), executed by the master in 1860. A young couple cherish a newborn child on a countryside path back home. This scene is a pastoral classical scene of the idealized simple way of life in the Antique world. The plaque is signed C. Bourdon and dated 1880.
