Litt.: Mortelmans is considered as one of the most important belgian flower & fruit painters of the late 19th century. Born in Antwerp, where he attends the academy under the guidance of Schaefels and Verlat. He will be shortly the pupil of Van Leemputten. His style is realistic and impressionist. In 2009 his monography was published, containing over 700 illustrated works. Works in the following museums: Antwerp, Courtrai, Ostende, Saint-Nicolas, Tongerlo & Omaha (USA).
