Exceptionnal “Maréchaux” gueridon table

Empire style “gueridon” table in mahogany and circular tray in chased and gilded bronze enclosing superb porcelain plates in Sèvres style. The top is adorned with a large round painted porcelain plate, representing the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in coronation costume, after the original portrait by Gérard François. The 12 small painted oval plates that surround it are set in the large gilt bronze plate like a clock dial and separated by imperial eagles with outstretched wings resting on foliated mounds and friezes of palmettes in the belt. They illustrate the imperial family and the great generals such as Marshal Lannes, M & Mme Murat, Le Roi de Rome, Marshal Ney, Hortense de Beauharnais, General Lasalle, Pauline Bonaparte, Marshal Suchet, Josephine Bonaparte, General Junot & Marie Louise Bonaparte. The mahogany baluster base is richly decorated in gilt bronze with three claw feet, swan necks & letter of Napoleon crowned with laurels. The gilt bronze bears the mark of a founder A.B.

French manufacture of the middle of the 19th century.

This piece of furniture was placed in the center of large empire salons. It is freely inspired by the table of Austerlitz or said marshals ordered by the emperor in 1806.
