French Work of the late 19th century.

Lit: This very spectacular and imposing chest of drawers is largely inspired by the royal chest of drawers by STOCKEL, transformed by BENNEMAN in 1786, delivered in the 1780s, for the cabinet of the Council at the castle of COMPIÈGNE, and today kept at the Palais de FONTAINEBLEAU. The accounts of the Garde-Meuble attest that this chest of drawers was made from a drawing by LALONDE.
