Lit : Firmin Baes is an intimate painter, but above all a pastelist of figures, portraits, genre scenes, interiors, flowers and landscapes. Son of Henri Baes, studied at the Brussels academy and at the free studio La Patte de Dindon (1894-1900). Began painting in 1900 with a realistic style whose chiaroscuro effects were influenced by his master. Became one of our best Belgian pastelists, refined and sensitive. Member of “Pour l’Art”.
